. I found it worked really well for me by following the directions on the box and the smell wasn't strong when the washing machine finished cleaning. My washing machine was in bad shape after it broke full of water so I followed the instructions to deep clean with the product once a week for 3 weeks. It worked great. A few weeks after the last use the smell came back (nasty washing machine needs an odor cleaning) so I did another use and haven't had any problems since. Luckily there were 4 bags in the box, so everything worked out great.
