This system makes soft, cold coffee. I will give so much But the price is just unreasonably high compared to the quality. It's basically a cheap plastic bucket with a hole in the bottom. I always leave it in the kitchen sink overnight while it simmers because I can't imagine what an unholy mess it would be if the cork popped out at the bottom, and I certainly wouldn't leave it on a glass carafe because of it is too heavy on the top and the glass that makes up the carafe is thin as an eggshell. The handle is a plastic ring with a cheap hollow eyelet that you have to grab to lift the bucket and it flexes and flexes and it always feels to me like it's about to collapse and the whole thing lands on the floor . After about twelve hours, you have to somehow pull the cork out of the ground, hold it in the crook of your arm and point the hole in the glass carafe, in the mad hope that the coffee will end up in the carafe and not everywhere. Counter, floor and everything else nearby. The design is really thoughtless. The fork doesn't even have an elaborate shape; It's just a soft plastic goo that has to be VERY HARD to stuff into the hole to stay, which of course makes it VERY HARD to get it out again the next day without splattering the kitchen with coffee. Then there are two brewing methods listed in the instructions. You only use a felt filter; it was a disaster. The filter was clogged like crazy and I had to filter all the coffee through a ton of coffee filters for my hot coffee maker. Pooh. What a mess. This method doesn't tell you that it's about LAYERING the water and coffee, and you shouldn't stir the mixture. Discovered this treat too late. Another method involves both a filter and a paper bag. It was easier and didn't cause blockages. Overall, the instructions aren't detailed or clear, and some parts are just confusing (you're instructed to keep the wet filter in the freezer - what does that do?). The resulting cold drink is really delicious. But that's a lot of money to spend to make a homemade cold drink. All you really need from this set are pockets. Then take a cheap plastic bucket from the toy department, wash it well and brew coffee in it. Pick up the bag the next morning and discard it after it has stopped dripping. phew! Cold beer for much less money.
