I almost gave this book 3 stars but decided to give 4 stars because what bothers me might not bother you. Let me first tell you the pros of this coloring book before I tell you the cons. The design is great! Some of these are more traditional mandala designs, but many (if not most) have designs that take them out of their traditional role and make for these unique pieces of art. The artist is very talented at combining traditional design with something like regular coloring, giving you the best of both worlds. The paper is very thick and durable. Yes, the alcohol markers will show through, but the back of the pages are blank. Also included is a tear-off page that can be used to catch any leachate before it makes its way onto the next page of the mandala. The next for me is professional - a lot of lines that are on the thick page. This means if my hand shakes or I'm careless, my "Oops" moment is far less likely to impact an adjacent design segment. Plus for very thick lines. I like to use gel pens or posca pens to decorate them. Now the biggest downside is quality control. I am paying $20 for this coloring book so it would be really nice if the drawings were centered on the page. I don't know, maybe the printers had a bad day and then the editor had a migraine looking at the finished copy. Sometimes the centering is just a tiny bit off - I can live with that and not complain because nobody is perfect. But there were many sides that were slightly off-center. Sometimes it was top to bottom, sometimes side to side, and sometimes both. There were also a few pages that looked like mistakes that were never corrected in the final copy before printing - lines that should normally have been deleted. One site in particular stood out in this context - at least for me. And that robbed me of the beautiful design of the rest of the site. Personally, I wouldn't buy this book again, and I'm not sure I'd buy another ColorIt book unless it was on sale at half price. However, if you don't mind what I consider to be my negatives, then it's worth full price. And that's why I gave 4 stars instead of 3.
