It is short. This little guy barely sticks his head above the hood line. Vehicle: Tundra. Area Used: Colorado (Corridor I-25) Terrain: Mountains on my left, hills on my right. The quality of the product is excellent. No defects in workmanship or workmanship and sent well protected (protective sleeve over the threads). This antenna is no better or worse than some other short antennas I've looked into (factory pins fitted to various vehicles). In the area where I live and drive, I can find myself in the shadow of a mountain or hill just by turning a corner. I sometimes lose reception through no fault of the antenna. It may take a little longer to receive on a standard antenna, but that defeats the purpose of using a short antenna. My daily commute to work is 45 minutes one way. Outside of that time I have about 10 minutes of intermittent or total loss of reception, which is not a problem for me. If you live in an area where the terrain creates shadow areas and you need absolute reception, this antenna may not be the best option for you.
