I bought this bed after the old bed that was new in the mid 1970's finally ran out :-) I read a few mattress reviews before buying, in hoping it lasts longer time. although probably not 40 years old. He sat down perfectly and spread out perfectly on the platform. it was not necessary to constantly straighten it during filling. The only real negative is that it had an awful smell that left me gagging for weeks. I've had it for 2 months now and I can still smell it when I get near it. I've washed it with vinegar and water and sprayed it with odor-killing sprays before putting new sheets and blankets on, but that doesn't kill the odor. Hoping that time will pass. It was supposed to come with a bunch of patches but I didn't get it even after going through everything. I think they forgot it so I bought it later to have on hand.
