I purchased this item to use in my 6 gallon weight in my van. Why it works so well: It heats the water while putting less strain on the electrics of our 30 time serviced van. My wife and I can take turns showering and still have enough hot water to wash a few plates. Instead of the conventional 12 amps (1400 watts), it only draws 5 amps (600 watts). Yes, recovery is slower but acceptable. This protects the thermostat contacts and reduces the formation of limescale on the element itself. If I want a really quick recovery, I just use propane to help.
