Review on Marmot Women's Precip Jacket: A Gemstone in Women's Clothing for Coats, Jackets & Vests by Justin Castro

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Excellent pants, apart from the velcro straps

I am an extremely active volunteer leader in the Olympic Mountains where it rains really heavily. Waterproof pants are essential for my trail work and hiking. They are perfect in every way (fitting, really waterproof etc.). A big issue is that they are designed to stay closed as they are fully zipped. The full zip is great - it allows me to get my pants on and off without taking my boots off every time. This is the second time I've worn these pants (I've literally worn out others, which is hard to do) and both times I've had the same issue with the velcro. They just don't hold up well. Yes I bought them a second time after wearing out my first pair but I think I was optimistic that maybe I had just worn the velcro and couldn't remember if they ever held up well. They don't. If Marmot had attached those velcro straps to something more secure I would have easily given these rain pants 5 stars. In the meantime I will be using them from now on but due to the weakness of the velcro straps I tend to use them with braces.

Pros
  • Comfort in all conditions. An attached, adjustable hood and DriClime-lined chin guard keep the wearer feeling less sticky and more comfortable in a variety of temperatures and conditions.
Cons
  • Dear
