stable and versatile tripod

We use Canon DSLRs and often need a tripod when working outdoors. This tripod is well suited to what we do. Some nice design features: - Leg locks, which are much easier and quicker to use on telescopic legs than screws on older tripods. The snap fittings at the top of the legs are also pleasant to the touch and hold the tripod securely: three spirit levels, two of them tubular and lying in the same plane, and a third round (fisheye) spirit level on a ball mount for the third. - Smooth ball mount with quick release plate for your camera (standard 1/4" screw to install in camera). - Quick release plate is a nice touch; You can attach them to the camera and leave them on the camera when you use them Put the camera and this tripod in suitable bags - light weight - Additional features include a carrying case, a smartphone holder (selfie) with 1/4 -inch thread, a set of allen wrenches, essential if you need to tighten some of the tripod's hinges. The monopod conversion and the ability to reverse the main shaft (to mount the camera under a tripod) are both nice features. Some caveats: the ball mount was a little wobbly on the tripod when I got it, but that was easily fixed by tightening the ball mount and retaining ring underneath. Users should not mistake this as a shaky design flaw, just for adjustment. The ball mount can be unscrewed completely, exposing the standard 3/8" synthetic screw if you wish to mount a different mount (e.g. Manfrotto or Giotto) on the tripod. But beware: some Manfrotto equipment tends to be heavy, maybe too heavy for this tripod - the instruction manual (rather booklet) is a bit cryptic, an experienced photographer will be able to figure this out, but a beginner might need to practice a little (carefully) folding and unfolding the tripod - aluminum legs are stable but not heavy, that's a compromise in favor of a lightweight tripod, they support canon dslr's and the like, and a carry case protects your feet in transport, in general a good, versatile and well thought out tripod, light and comfortable, especially for field work.
