Review on πŸ”§ TeraFlex JK Rzeppa CV Factory Replacement Kit (Part # 1744014) by Jon Bishop

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good kit but lacks learning curve and should include an extra tool and CV clamp

This kit fixes a bug that Fiat/Chrysler should have fixed in the first place, specifically on the front driveshaft to the transfer case . Very little clearance for the trunk clamp to prevent chafing and premature trunk destruction when driving on uneven surfaces/roads. The Terra Flex replacement is great, but it's not an easy decision and won't make removing the front driveshaft any easier for any other type of repair. I replaced the hinge on my 2015 2 door and it's just for the soft mechanics. I would include a shorter 6mm hex wrench to get the correct torque specs and state that the back cover must engage at least 95% evenly for the unit to properly run into the transfer case shaft. I would also fit a second shorter yoke as beginners screw in the first and the yoke is too long and should not be doubled or tripled as the gap breaks most of the time. I had this kit together in less than 3 hours and using a hammerless hammer with a block of wood to almost completely bond the back cover to the end of the transfer case should be in the instructions. The transfer case flange must be cleaned or lightly sanded or the pounds per 15 feet of torque will be inaccurate. I supported the driveshaft parallel to the transfer case for installation with an adjustable jack so it went straight in. I would also measure the protrusion of the transfer case bolt to the Rzeppa joint as if the block was not pulled straight out which would result in insufficient torque at the end of 15 ft lbs to seat the top part in the transfer case. Do not use a power ratchet. or impact gun pull-in joint with transfer case flange! The screws must be tightened slowly, otherwise the flange with the CV joint boot may be damaged. This was the longest part of the installation and removal may require a new front driveshaft pivot assembly unless you clean it of rust etc. Overall this is a great kit for the Jeep JK system 3 Rzeppa joints, however detailed instructions are required or premature failure or even disaster could occur at highway speeds.
