Review on OMAX 40X-2000X Lab LED Binocular Compound πŸ”¬ Microscope: Double Layer Mechanical Stage & Coaxial Coarse/Fine Focusing by Brian Wersching

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The only thing I don't like is that I find it difficult to use both eyes.

5 stars because I've never owned a really high quality microscope and I don't know the difference. Here's what I can tell you about this product. The only thing I don't like is that I have a hard time seeing things with 2 eyes, it looks wonky, it's my fault, probably not the scopes. What I do as: 1. It moves smoothly and focuses, it has pretty good resolution. again, i've never had a 10k microscope, so maybe i don't know any better.2. I got the 5 megapixel camera for it from another site (half the price of anything I found on Amazon), it's amazing.3. With a camera, my 6 year old can look at things and ask questions, it's a great learning tool4. I just drew some water from my baby tank and I see bacteria floating around. COOL.5. The LED doesn't get hot and I assume it will last forever. If you want a great tool (not a toy) then go for it, it's under $200, if you can find something cheaper it might not be as good. I know amscope makes similar microscopes (in terms of optics) so it's just a personal preference between the 2. Consider buying clean slides and slide covers and pipettes. it will improve your experience. In addition, it comes with slide immersion oil, which is what you need for a maximum performance lens. Watch some YouTube videos to learn how to use it properly. I didn't understand how to use an oil immersion lens and thought it wouldn't work. :) I assure you, you will be happy with it. You can do many great experiments and it will be a great learning tool for your kids. Have fun with your studying!

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
