Review on πŸ”§ Optimized 45/90 Degree Layout Miter Gauge by Chris Pettway

Good sensor: measuring and marking tools

Thing is great, maybe not for the frame of a house but for carpentry. Not too big, not too small. I'm always finding new ways to use it. Although it's a metric, I almost think they had SAE in mind when they designed it. The trick is to sand the wood down to 5/8 x 2 3/8 (I use a jig when planing) and then use wood of that size for my project. When you do this, the inner "hole" on the 90 degree side of the template is just perfect for marking the groove and chord without having to measure anything. If you add a pencil line 15mm it's 5/8 which works for me. Since most of the frame is based on 15mm between inside and outside and the metric markings on the outside line up with the inside straight edges, find the center or if you want to create a double groove - you can mark anything without moving the gauge . . (One thing the metric works really well with.) The 45 degree side is to facilitate the chord/miter combination. You just have to imagine using inside cutouts and outside edges together while using the right sizes. Absolutely every edge on this thing comes in handy when you're measuring wood. He also distinguishes well between the 45s and 90s.
