Review on SAMSUNG (MZ-V8V1T0B/AM) 980 SSD 1TB - Enhanced M.2 NVMe Solid State Drive with V-NAND Technology by Brad Fleming

Installation was a nightmare. I upgraded the laptop from Samsung 970evo plus 500GB to this 980 1TB. Took me over 12 hours. I'm not an IT professional, but I understand computers and I build and configure them. Samsung makes excellent hardware. Your discs are great. Your software is absolutely idiotic. Who runs this place? An example of what I learned trying to install a simple hard drive that should have taken 30 minutes max ended up taking 12 hours. How did I not give up? I really wanted this. It happened like this. Clone a 500GB Samsung to a 1TB Samsung with a USB enclosure. Your stupid migration software that ONLY works with Samsung won't work when this Samsung drive is in the case. It's a laptop, what else can I do. Well there is no problem. I know and use Macrium Reflect, Easus ToDo Backup, AOMEI Backupper, Casper, you get the idea. I tried each and couldn't get the 1TB Samsung drive to boot after cloning. Something I've done hundreds of times. I've tried dozens of times with no success. Just check for updates and NVME clones and you will see how many problems Samsung has. I tried everything in the long elimination process. SPOILERS: My problem? I used the Samsung Magician software and the Samsung NVMe driver. All I had to do was uninstall the program and driver, and voila! It reverted to the default Windows driver and the cloning software worked fine. I have to thank the person who wrote in one of the dozens of things I've read about this issue that gave me a hint. He said the 980 has a different driver than the 970. Both Samsung products. How could they complicate the upgrade process? It's their fault, bad software. The Samsung Magician software should be renamed Samsung Nightmare. I will never use their buggy software again! By the way, to say that Ouloook is called Smart Switch, their phone contact sync software should be renamed to Dumb Switch. So many mistakes, too bad. Come on Samsung, fix your stuff or you'll lose your customers. YOU'RE WELCOME!
