Seems to be a strong knot. It's pretty hefty and should work fine for my application. I have a Team 1500 2013. Its main job is to pull our caravan. I am retired, I have an electric bike. These things aren't easy and I didn't want to get a bike rack that would require two healthy people? I was looking at bike racks that could fit an A frame as they would be too big for my small stature. There is no aftermarket screw on the back of our trailer. Again, because these bikes are heavy I didn't want to load them into a bed (once) as again it required two muscular men. Luckily, I came across a front hitch on my truck that I could attach a bike rack to. This Curt hitch hangs a little low and sticks out a little. I saw it as an obligation and wanted something to protect my investment. I've seen other skid plates and was about to order another one but they were on standby so in my immediate need I got these. That is hard! That is a good thing! The 3 length adjustment holes worked well as it was possible to put it as far as possible into that 3rd hole. The step function is gone but I can live with that as it's not the main reason I got it. The finish is smooth, the finish is guaranteed for 3 years. It's too early to tell how well this works, but I'm very happy that my towbar is protected. The installation took only 2 minutes. Very happy with the fit, form and function. I secured it in place and now I'm not so concerned about the gaping open 2" receiver hole. It's barely noticeable. The extent of my terrain is a random dirt road. That should last for the life of the truck. I'm a lucky tourist!
