Beautiful colours, great carrying case, quality paint

I love painting with watercolors but didn't have metallic paints so I was happy to try this set even if it's a bit pricey . . But they definitely give you a lot for your money. Firstly, it is beautifully packaged so it will make a wonderful gift for the artist. The paints come in a nice metal box with multiple spots for mixing paints. It even comes with a folded card with a dot already marked for each color so you can create your own pattern sheet that folds up and fits neatly inside the case. One of the things that made me take the star off is that each of the paint pots is wrapped in a sticker, so you have to take each one out and remove the sticker before you can use them. It took a while. I get that it looks nice and the holographic stickers are really nice, but they could make it so you don't have to disassemble the whole thing to take them off. In addition, the names of the individual colors are printed on the stickers, but they are hardly legible. Thank goodness the colors were in an order that matched the listing on the card, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to figure out which was which. I ended up marking the ends of each pan with a black marker so I could tell which ones they were. They each have a name and number, and since you can pull them out, you can replace them with similarly sized pans once they're empty. That makes it very valuable because the metal carrying case is very handy, so if I run out of paint I can at least keep using it. As for the colors themselves, they are very good. Most of them have really good pigments for metallic watercolors. The names don't always match what you think, colors like red often appear as pink. I haven't been able to get the colors as vividly as the product photos show, so you need to use little to no water if possible to get the full pigment as they show. They are still very pretty and when I filled in the color swatch card I tried to show what they look like with lots of water and very little. Again, you should practically use a dry brush to get a consistent color, but you don't typically do that with watercolors. Some colors are incredibly bright, like pearl and silver, so they look great on dark paper as well as other colors to give them a shimmer. But most of the colors are beautiful on their own, and the metallic shimmer is really nice. It doesn't look shiny, but it actually looks metallic and smooth. Overall I am very happy with this set and will have a lot of fun with it. The colors are of really good quality and the metal carrying case is long lasting to keep and use so I would definitely say it's worth the price.
