May need an electric screwdriver for quicker assembly but the parts were easy to put together (pretty obvious which is which) and it was all done in 30 minutes ! Take out the pieces, adjust them, match the screws to the holes where they should be, tighten and you're done. I am convinced that the stairs are only made for the cat. If your dog is fine with jumping onto high platforms, stairs are no problem. My dog just needs one big jump like jumping on our sofa or bed. Carmelo weighs 21 pounds, has a very long body and fits perfectly in the top of the castle, but unfortunately the bottom is a little intimidating. BUT since he loves it so much he still gets 5 stars. My friend calls this thing his (our pup's) castle and he melts away every time he comes home and sees how sweetly he's sleeping in the attic window of his castle. Like Macy's at Christmas and the puppies in the window are sound asleep. It was a HIT for our little one. Again, dog owners, beware of narrow stairs. The same seller sells individual stairs, which are perfect if you're specifically concerned about stairs.
