Absolutely normal. Not as large a range as I expected
I was wondering what a 14B pencil looks like. In this case it's like charcoal on serrated paper and about 6B my normal quality on smooth paper. The differences in hardness are notable, but I suspect the scores are compressed somewhat to fit so many steps. The rest of the pens are good - no scratches, easy to sharpen and mostly easy to erase (depending on your paper). Softer leads smudge well, which I consider my trait. YMMV.
