I bought this machine because of the drip free carafe which is the ONLY benefit of this machine. Yes, they are easy to use and easy to clean, just like most drip coffee makers. This completes the "for" list. minuses? First, the brewing speed is absurd. It took a whopping 45 minutes to cook a 12 cup pot. I love reading instructions and never mentioned how slow it is to make a cup of coffee. Thank goodness I'm retired and wouldn't have to factor in ridiculous brewing times before work. Without a cup of coffee in my belt, I would have either arrived on time or been late because of that clunky car. Now another huge scam. The instruction manual states that during the brewing process you usually have to expect that a cup of water will be absorbed. I measured 12 glasses of water, poured it into the car, looked at the fill line and realized I actually had enough water for 12 glasses. After 45 minutes, when the machine indicated the coffee was ready, I looked at the carafe and realized the coffee pot had only made 6 cups of coffee. I should note that I didn't select the "fat" brew setting. When I finally drank my long-awaited first cup of coffee (and by that point I was showing signs of caffeine withdrawal), it was so strong it was barely drinkable. I prefer strong coffee but it was literally twice as strong as my regular drink. I don't skimp on buying good coffee and this machine turned some fine Kenyan beans into a gross mush. I have used this coffee maker 4 times and if I could I would use a negative number to rate it.
