The default setting gives an incredibly "light" coffee, even if you fully load the filter. Well, you might like this if you like your coffee super light and smooth. But a lot of people don't do that. So there's a BOLD feature that improves the flavor a bit, but not by much. The most interesting thing is that you cannot use a fat function and a timer together. He also dripped. But I think ours was defective. This is a Consumer Reports #1 recommended machine, but not for us.

We have a few critics in my house, the most skeptical being me. This is the first coffee maker to feature a fill line that compensates for the water left in the brewed coffee - meaning you get the full 10 or 12 cups you wanted. When you pour coffee into the cup, it does NOT actually drip down the side of the cup like the model we replaced. The small coffee basket is reusable, no coffee filters are needed. Last but not least, it makes a great cup of coffee and deserves a 5 star rating.

I bought this machine because of the drip free carafe which is the ONLY benefit of this machine. Yes, they are easy to use and easy to clean, just like most drip coffee makers. This completes the "for" list. minuses? First, the brewing speed is absurd. It took a whopping 45 minutes to cook a 12 cup pot.
