I was concerned about f/3.2 as there are other options and I even have a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 which is faster for the same focal length but I wasn't upset. The lens is small, light, fairly sharp wide open and very well built, but three things make it stand out: a) Color - it has really great colors, very warm and saturated. Makes you love Pentax and the new coating helps with the highlights, love it. b) Bokeh - it was totally unexpected. This is a wide angle lens, it's not very bright, what does bokeh mean? It's not the same bokeh of a wide open f/1.4 lens that makes everything disappear. Rather, it's the kind that presents a really good subject for separating the background and still keeping the subject in context due to the wide angle. I've attached a few photos showing the effect, very very nice. c) Small minimum focusing distance. It's far from a macro lens, but a wide-angle lens with a short minimum focus distance allows you to get close to small subjects and have a decent depth of field, but with good bokeh in the background. It works wonders at capturing fine details such as flowers, jewelry and anything that has fine detail. It might not look like a lens on paper, but it deserves Pentax's Limited name. Highly recommended.
