Review on Lippert Components 389381 Siphon Roof by Daniel Tonini

I think it works for Building Materials

So it took me a while to figure out how to convert this without making major design changes. I found the instructions a bit vague, but after doing some research on the original vent, I realized that the inner funnel's sole function was to collect rain and direct it down the exhaust pipe. There were 4 double prongs around the top of the old base that the instructions said should be cut off. I found they actually helped hold the new bend in place. All I had to do was cut the screw hole and make it flush. I glued the funnel to the inside, added some sealant and let it dry overnight. I then used pens to make sure it didn't ring around, applied some good quality caulk to the base and then applied it liberally around the gasket. Then I put some weight on it and let it dry overnight. Everything looks great. I added a zip tie to mine because a friend ripped it off a branch. I figured it couldn't hurt and it might save me the expense of a new one later. There was a noticeable difference (no) in the smell coming back into the device, so I think it was worth it. Installation isn't difficult, but it took me a while to grasp the concept. At first I thought that the inner funnel should be airtight. It shouldn't be airtight on the inside, just at the base. Once I figured it out, it was a piece of cake. Not removing small teeth also helps avoid slipping off the base. Unless, of course, you plan to remove all of the old ventilation.
