Review on Marmot Women's Precip Jacket: A Gemstone in Women's Clothing for Coats, Jackets & Vests by Meech Elliott

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Keeps me dry during a 2 hour hike in the pouring rain.

I did a mild two-hour hike in the fall in 60 degrees. I love that it keeps me dry in heavy rain. It was not a downpour, but very rainy and windy. I usually sweat when hiking, but I didn't sweat at all, so I felt very comfortable. The hood has a velcro strap that allows me to shorten and adjust the hood. This is a handy feature. For me there was only one downside. The hood has elastic drawstrings at both ends that allow me to adjust the hood around my neck, but I have to tie them to put the hood on, especially on a windy day. After that, it was very painful to untie the cords in the neck. That seems to me to be a design flaw. But I leave the jacket as it is very good on all other points: functionality, cut, style, color.

Pros
  • Avoid getting wet. Tough and durable, with a patented dry-to-touch coating, this waterproof jacket offers comfort and protection for planned trips in inclement weather, or as an emergency layer in your pack in the event of an unexpected downpour.
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
