Review on Mid Cure Combined by Bob Smith Industries by Wagner Witlin

Good epoxy base - slightly longer cure time helps

I used this to repair and reinforce a small section of handlebar cover on a Vespa scooter. Two quarter-sized pieces of plastic had snapped off the bottom of the rear case, taking with it the hole through which the screw held the case halves together. I managed to salvage one of the pieces, but the other was missing. I glued the piece I had to the body to temporarily hold it in place, cleaned and sanded the area. I then smeared four coats of epoxy impregnated fiberglass over the part, the hole, and the undamaged portion of the hull to reinforce the glued part and restore the missing part. Once this started to harden I used another small batch of epoxy to fill in the gaps. I let it all dry overnight, sanded off the excess with a Dremel tool, and re-drilled the hole. The epoxy adhered well to the sanded plastic and the curing time was long enough to get started without panicking. A longer cure epoxy is slightly stronger, less flexible, and gives you more time to mix properly than a fast cure epoxy.
