Review on πŸšͺ Carlson Lil Tuffy Metal Expandable Gate - White, 38 Inch x 1 Inch x 18 Inch by Heather Rodriguez

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor lock design, ineffective fasteners

I've used many types of folding pet gates in my home over the years, but removed them after my dogs were trained and trusted that they could move around without a permit stay out of restricted areas. Sometimes I still need to put up a temporary barrier though, so I figured this low gate to "walk through" might be a good choice - not much. Black "bumps" on sides touching wall, about 4 inches from bottom and 3 inches from top; My base shape is taller than this which meant the top bar didn't touch the wall at all. I've tried elsewhere without the baseboard mold and even then all 4 tabs weren't making close contact (they're quite hard and would be better with a more flexible rubber that could easily fit). However, the biggest problem I have is the printing device. There are special holes in the pole that the gate extends and they are spaced about 1/2 inch apart. The pin to latch the gate must go into one of these holes, and like a strap, you won't get a good fit if you're "between sizes". The holes weren't positioned so I could get a tight press fit: one hole was too loose, the next hole was too wide. If the black rubber tabs on the ends were more rubbery/comfortable the gate could be forced into a tight position. Anyhow, even with two people (one trying to pull the gate and the other trying to pick the lock) it was impossible to get a proper fit.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Hard to tell
