Review on Wahl 5-Star Legend Clipper #8147 for Professional Use by Tiffany Harvey

The Best Hair Clipper

Well I have used Wahl clippers on myself and my pets for decades. You never disappoint me. My previous personal clippers were, at best, a $20 set from Walmart over a decade ago. Still works hard and clamps smoothly. I just wanted the 5 star version with the V9000 engine. I have to say the motor runs very smoothly and the scissors cut like clockwork. I had to install the blade when I received the device. If you've ever done this, you know that to secure the blade at the point you want to adjust it, you must slowly tighten each set screw. To put it mildly, this can be a booger as each side wants to compensate. But slow and easy wins the race. I use my clippers to trim 1.5mm around the ears and up a little towards the top of my head, then switch to 3mm to shave the rest of my head. My haircut is a simple military haircut as I love short hair. So I can't comment on the fading and blending for those with long hair, but for a razor cut they are very even and work like a pro. I've read the reviews, the motors are loud and annoying...don't know what people expect from a clipper that sits right next to your ears! Of course there will be sound, and these people either just have a faulty device, or they're just not used to clippers. If you are looking for a clipper with a great reputation and want an upgraded V9000 motor, look for a 5 star model like the Legend or the Senior as they also spring to mind. I've been using Wahl for a very long time and will stick with them unless their quality degrades. By the way, I still have my cheap $20 kit on hand in case I need it in an emergency. Would give them 4.5 as I think it's justified... I almost never give 5 stars for anything but it would be close.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • ill thought out
