$400 vs $14 + 2 hrs: Automotive Security

The factory backup camera that was installed on my raw 2011 car died after 5 years and was void of the warranty. The cost of replacing the camera at the service center was about $400. The OEM camera part alone costs around $150. But then I found this cheap camera online and thought it might be worth a try. For less than $14 and 2 hours of my time I realized it was worth it. This camera replaces one of the plate lights (does not replace the original factory camera) and is a great fit. I had to cut the original wiring harness to connect this but had no choice as this is not an OEM part. After figuring out which was which (two wires for video signal, two for video power and two for LED power) I had to disconnect and connect all the wires. The camera works great with the factory rearview mirror. The only thing I see now are two sets of guides. However, as long as I can watch videos from the back of my car again, I won't complain. Overall, I'm happy with this rear camera. It hasn't been long enough to see durability in different weather conditions, but if something happens I'll update this review. For your information, the camera did not come with installation instructions.
