I bought two SC1299 chargers to charge and service 12v lawn mower batteries. Charger #1 was initially faulty and maintained a fixed charge voltage of 14.6 on a fully charged battery. 14.6V is too much for a float considering it was outputting over 500mA. Charger #2 can function properly - it cycles on and off at about 5 minute intervals - at the beginning of the cycle the output voltage rises to 14.6 and then the device switches off allowing the battery to return to about 12.8 volts , before returning to . Strangely, after four days, the charger was still working and hadn't gone into what's known as float mode (which was putting out around 400mA while charging, which is a bit high). So it doesn't give me much confidence in the technology. Charger #1 I returned. I left charger number 2, it is enough to charge the batteries, but I will not use it to service the mower batteries in the off-season. For comparison, my BatteryMinder keeps the battery at a constant voltage of around 13.6V at the end of charge mode.
