What can I say - I've had a fan in my bedroom for years, a powerful, round, oscillating fan. It's noisy, but I'm used to it. It's on a stand, so that's good. This is a fan. A box fan is better than a window air conditioner. I've wanted a column fan for a long time. I especially wanted one with a remote control so that when I wake up sweaty, grumpy, and annoyed at being awake and sweaty, I don't have to get out of bed to turn on the fan or increase its speed. IT HAS A REMOTE CONTROL AND WORTH EVERY PENNY. It's quiet, but not too quiet (we all love a bit of white noise). It rotates, it increases its speed between the cooling of the hot flash and just a nice movement of air. AND IT'S LESS THAN $50. If that doesn't convince you that you need this fan in your life, I honestly don't know what will and you probably won't appreciate it anyway.
