Don't walk, RUN!: Networking Products

I really felt I should review this product. I installed this router for my only laptop in the living room which is about 15 feet from the bedroom where the router was located. The connection was strong, about 4-5 cycles, but when I use the internet it's incredibly shaky. Sometimes the speed test goes to 40Mbps, sometimes 5. Or my favorite, it starts at 10 and then after 30 seconds the internet dies completely. Even with my laptop right next to the router, I sometimes only got 5 Mbps. After a lot of searching and troubleshooting on the forums, talking to my ISP, studying channels 1, 6, 11, and fiddling with all of the router's settings, I got nowhere. high score. When connected to this modem my desktop computer gets 90+ Mbps, no problem and works great. But forget wireless, it's useless. The internet kept dropping out or was just too slow, making my computer unusable. This router really lives up to the adage "you get what you pay for". I assumed I just needed a cheap router because I only have one wireless PC and one wired PC connected and really only use one PC at a time. Netgear seemed like a decent brand but no, they must have wasted my time with this horrible product. So my new router arrived today, I spent about $50 this time, and in fact my laptop is now hitting the same 90+ Mbps as my wired desktop. PC receives. I won't name names, but this is the cheapest "dual band" AC router currently offered by a newer, lesser-known company at Revain. This new router has shown me the light and I will be returning this piece of Netgear junk asap. Don't walk, RUN from this router!
