I ordered this item thinking it would be a simple solution to the problem of slamming hot coals against the side of my wood fired pizza oven. 25 inches seemed like a good enough length to move the coals around without sticking your hand too far into the stove. I ordered my first item that came out and there was no internal thread on the handle. So I couldn't connect the two pole pieces together. Absolutely useless. I thought it was an accident so I asked for it to be returned and replaced. A second item appeared and the handle was completely different from the first, with a miniature piece of hard plastic about 1 inch long as the "handle". Needless to say, holding on to a metal rod while shoveling coals would likely transfer heat relatively quickly, which is ridiculous. Again completely useless. If you look at my photo you can also see that their claimed 25.2 inches is actually just over 20. As a man, I know the strategy of claiming your shaft is longer than it actually is. But overdoing it by 5 inches is risky. My wife even remarked that she would have preferred the extra 5 inches on the shaft when I use it to slide the oven in and out. In short, I do not recommend this product. This is a cheap product not worth the money. Only $17, but still. Look elsewhere and do not endorse this manufacturer.
