I buy sandpaper in boxes and have burned many boxes. But just recently a friend mentioned this sticky paper and I'm glad he did. It performs significantly better than regular sandpaper in terms of durability, but what makes it so useful is the sticky side. Here are a few random points: 1. Less waste - you glue the work piece to the face of the whetstone and don't have to wrap the paper around the sides. The result is that you use 100% sandpaper2. For fine sanding, stick a piece of this paper to the extreme edge/corner/whatever on the sanding block and you'll use the straight edge to get into tight corners etc.3. Need a third hand? Glue a sheet of paper to the board and attach it to the workbench. Then, for small parts, use both hands to move the part back and forth on the flat (and still) sandpaper. Tip: Cut a piece or two of the paper and tape it to the "top" of the part to be sanded. This will give you a good grip at the top as you slide the piece back and forth across the horizontal paper. Update: I found an old sample of a floor tile - it was very smooth and now serves as a great flat surface to sand with sticky sandpaper (plus I can easily remove glue residue with lacquer thinner). Eventually, the "stickiness" on paper will show - especially with the aforementioned "exciting" parts after you've swapped them out a few times. Graininess is still good, but the pieces don't stick together. Then I use them like normal paper. I bought several different grits and use both sides of several boards to glue successive grits.
