You can also place yourself around the property or around your home and know when someone is entering. it just has to be high enough so that the animals don't trigger an alarm. loud beeps to let you know something has crossed its path. The eye and base can be far apart and still work. Just read the specs to make sure it's close enough to your region before you buy it.
