is it heated? Yes. Does it slow down in this heat? Yes, perhaps. At the same time, this seems to be the norm for SanDisk flash drives lately. I also have Sandisk Ultra Fit and Cruzer Fit Sticks and they all do the same thing. Despite these shortcomings, since I mainly use them for extended storage on my Chromebook, basic backups, and to transfer files between work, home, and my phone, they serve their purpose. I've never had a single crash or data loss that I put on them. The fit and finish of the drive is great and appears to be well made. The cover latches well when the connector end is open and the friction of the slider protects it when not in use.
