It gets hot as other reviewers describe.

This USB-C stick works fine, but like other reviewers, I plug it in and don't even do anything with it. I literally left it there to see what other reviewers had to say. Guess what happened? It got incredibly hot! I haven't even transferred files to it or pulled files from it. I just plugged it in and let it sit for 5 MINUTES! He burned my finger in 5 minutes. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it works. I can just take the plastic pages, pull them out and let them cool. I didn't have

Overheated. Defective after 3 months.

Just applied for warranty RMA service from San Disk. The drive seemed to work fine, although the transfer speed sometimes dropped if I left it connected to my Mac for too long. It's getting hot. The product never did me any physical harm, but after a while I realized that I need to check my temperature before losing weight, just to be on the safe side. I ordered this for my new range of Macs that I bought and they all require USB-C. devices, so it seemed like a solid buy. I didn't read anyโ€ฆ

Not sure I recommend this one. I thought the other reviewers who complained about the heat were exaggerating, but unfortunately they weren't. I can't believe how hot it's getting! It literally melted part of my duvet that accidentally came in contact with the top of the drive (a duvet with a polyester lining). Really challenges a potential security issue; If I hadn't smelled the burning smell, it could have caught fire. The plastic bottom is also hot, but the metal top is very hot! I boughtโ€ฆ

Overheating, slowly, best avoided.

20 MB/s writing speed and 90 MB/s reading speed with many drops puts it on par with many inexpensive USB 3.0 sticks. Unfortunately, the disappointment doesn't stop there. After copying the 700MB .PSD file twice (appropriately labeled "Test"), the hard drive's temperature increased dramatically. It was also "uncomfortably warm" and, conversely, caused burns. Judging by the many reviews here, the two I ordered weren't hacks. Better avoid them and look elsewhere. You can easily find a working USBโ€ฆ

Despite the shortcomings, it copes with its task.

is it heated? Yes. Does it slow down in this heat? Yes, perhaps. At the same time, this seems to be the norm for SanDisk flash drives lately. I also have Sandisk Ultra Fit and Cruzer Fit Sticks and they all do the same thing. Despite these shortcomings, since I mainly use them for extended storage on my Chromebook, basic backups, and to transfer files between work, home, and my phone, they serve their purpose. I've never had a single crash or data loss that I put on them. The fit and finish ofโ€ฆ

Overheated and burned out!

Please please if you have a new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and USB Type-C ports DO NOT buy this flash diver! As soon as I put it in my MacBook Pro it got hot and after about 30 seconds it started smoking so I grabbed it. I wanted a few hours and tried this on my old phone with a USB-C port and the same thing happened and the phone read it because the drive was completely burned! I called Sandisk to let them know about the issue but they didn't seem to care so next time I'll be working at theirโ€ฆ

HOT LITTLE FLASH!

Just bought this for my new HP Specter detachable laptop that only uses USB Type-C ports The drive is slower than a Samsung flash drive configured for USB 3.1. But VERY handy thanks to the type C plug. One problem: the plug gets VERY HOT in use. I used to have this problem with a Sandisk UltraFit Flash. In this case, the UltraFit package came loose, exposing the chip and LED. I sent the parts back to SanDisk and they replaced them quickly and free of charge. Overheating is to be expected asโ€ฆ

Works with Google Pixel

It does what it's supposed to. I had to jump through a few hoops to get it working on the Google Pixel, but it works and transfers data. It gets very hot but I didn't burn it. This plastic cover is not intended to protect the connector. It's designed to protect your thumb from burns when you take it off. It's very compact for a flash drive (most compact I've seen). The port is long enough that with a Pixel I could even use it with an enclosure (can't say that about all flash drives).

Pros
  • Well done
Cons
  • Doesn't go with everything
