Just applied for warranty RMA service from San Disk. The drive seemed to work fine, although the transfer speed sometimes dropped if I left it connected to my Mac for too long. It's getting hot. The product never did me any physical harm, but after a while I realized that I need to check my temperature before losing weight, just to be on the safe side. I ordered this for my new range of Macs that I bought and they all require USB-C. devices, so it seemed like a solid buy. I didn't read any reviews before purchasing as for years I blindly trusted San Disk for most of my day to day storage needs. Aside from the potential loss of some encryption keys, certificate backups and archiving software development projects - I had my first child this year and have used this device to store all my videos and photos since the day they were born. Since the drive is burned out, I hope to recover some photos from SD card that are not erased. I will update this review once I get a response from San Disk about their response and RMA processing. Save yourself the headache. don't buy that.
