Review on πŸ”§ Autel TS408 Handheld TPMS Service Tool - Next-Level Intelligent Technology for Enhanced Tire Pressure Management by David Cash

Great tool! Easy to use well built

This tool was just what I needed to help me locate and replace the intermittent TPMS sensor on my 2012 Corolla. My TPMS light came on intermittently on long drives. It will flash for 1 minute and then stay on indicating a problem with the sensor and not low tire pressure. I suspected the battery was starting to settle on a sensor, but which one? This tool allowed me to read all 4 sensors and told me that 2 of my sensors had a low battery. On one particularly cold morning, one of the two wasn't reading at all, so I knew who the likely culprit was. I replaced it with an Autel MX sensor. With this tool I was able to read the ID number of the failed OEM sensor and copy it to the new MX sensor. What if the OEM sensor was completely dead and I couldn't read it with a tool you ask? No problem, the OEM sensor has an ID printed on it and I could enter the ID manually. Because the new MX sensor was programmed with the same ID as the original, no relearn was required. The local Toyota dealership charged $160 to replace the sensor. So for the cost of this TS408 tool and an Autel MX sensor I was still ahead and now I have a tool to use next time. And the pleasure of doing it yourself. I am very impressed with the AUTEL TS408 tool and MX probe. The new Autel MX Sensor is very easy to use and program. Beautiful color display and user interface. Also the body is well designed and very durable. Don't repeat my mistake. On my test drive to the grocery store, I had the original sensor in the car (in the trunk). I thought he had died and just ridden, but it's not. About every minute the TPMS light would come on for a few seconds and then go off again. Finally I found out that the old sensor is still working (although the battery is dead) and the new one is interfering with the bus since both have the same ID. After leaving the original sensor at home, everything worked great. To break the tire bead I used the ratchet jack method I saw in youtube videos, it worked fine.
