Gooseneck mic stands are good for obvious reasons, but the problem is often that the gooseneck just can't support heavy mics. I currently have a Shure sm7b which is both exceptionally bulky and heavy. The gooseneck mostly supports the microphone, but no sharp bends and gooseneck bends. With my NT1 that is hardly a problem. Also, the base stand is a bit light which makes it not the strongest stand, especially in combination with the heavy sm7b. Wobbly would be the adjective I would use to describe it. To be honest I bought this knowing that my sm7b would probably be a bit heavy for a compact stand. It's also better than the $25 replacement model. It's also worth noting that the inner slide bar has no notches on either end, meaning the inner bar can be easily pulled out for adjustment. Good but not great.
