I had a file and I lost it. I couldn't find anything else at the hardware store. This file is better than what I had. The tapered shape allows for various counter-diving functions, enlarge the holes from small to small as needed. It is very convenient to form irregular shapes. My youngest daughter carves a plastic tube to experiment with plastic and this tool allows her to get fine particles with minimal effort. It would be nice to have. Came in a handy case.
