For security reasons I hope I just received a brand new or defective unit. The steering bolts are screwed in and keep the steering wheel in order. The steerer tube pinch bolts are not tight enough to hold the steerer tube and the bolt seat will strip when tightened. After finally getting my stripped screws out, I bought some higher quality screws to use. Still could not tighten enough to prevent slipping around the head tube. One of the screws actually snapped. A typical ten minute job that ended up costing me a few hours trying to get this thing to work. And yes, I definitely tried setting it to 1 1/8. tube (28.6). The stem I received had the round notch on the tube clamp not centered on the stem. I don't know if they're all like this, or if mine was defective and the non-functioning was a result of that. Very tired of this product.
