Makita 9005B Fitment

This review is about the fitment rather than the function of the Raizi product, because it seems to work for some grinder brands/models. I have a Makita 9005B grinder and also the Makita brand dust shroud for this grinder. So, I got a chance to compare both shrouds. As you would expect, the Makita shroud has a vise grip, glove-like fit (see pics; 1st pic is the Raizi). When fitting up the Raizi, my engineering spidey senses were tingling. It had a wobbly fit and it was not aligning well with the four hex bolts at the base of the gear housing. Getting it to fit firmly against these bolts while trying to orient the exhaust port is a bit trying. In addition, you have to lock down the shroud with the thumb lever. This is a repetitive effort; making sure you tighten the locking nut enough every try.The 9005B has an inner flange with a notch (indent) that engages with the spindle. Normally, cup wheels get tightened against the flange so that spindle, flange, wheel, and lock nut all move as one unit to provide the torque for the operation. The Raizi shroud is offset from the gear housing enough so that the flange cannot engage the spindle. So, you are only relying on the tightened lock nut to drive the wheel. Potential to over-tighten the lock nut or have the cup wheel run loose during the operation from under tightening. The grinder moves around a lot during grinding operation. A lot of force is put on the shroud from this movement and from the attached vac hose. I could see this Raizi shroud working itself loose from the 9005B during some long hours of use. However, it appears to be well made.
