Review on 🐠 Sera Siporax Mini Professional 270 G - Top-rated Aquarium Filter Accessories (8476) by Jessie Wright

The best biofilter for fresh or salt water!

Works great! Siporax has been a leader in biofilters since the 1990s. Now it's back in the same formula but in a smaller format better suited to smaller aquariums. The medium is in the form of a small tablet (reminds me of a large aspirin). The pack supports up to 53 gallons of water. I use it in my HOB filter in my 29 gallon reef tank. It easily maintains my aquarium with all the bacteria I need without the use of live/dry rock. My tank only has 10 pounds of aragonite sand (NOT live) and a bottle of Bio Spira starter bacteria. The nitrogen cycle also works great with Siporax as the biofilter medium in my HOB. The reason I do it this way is because there is a lot of flexibility in aquascaping. Instead of a "rock pool" like most reef pools. I am allowed to use little or nothing at all to ensure more biotope diversity. Due to its extreme porosity, this material appears more "absorbent” than even Marine Pure. It's the best value on the market in my opinion and even comes with its own media pouch and bonus bottle of nitrifying bacteria for freshwater aquariums. For 9€ it doesn't get any better. I just bag it up and toss it in my HOB Grech 500 which works with 50 gallon tanks.

Pros
  • High-performance filter material, especially for small aquariums
Cons
  • Some insects
