First of all the delivery was excellent. I signed up for the package and it arrived at the earliest day as advertised. It took about a week to get here due to having to go through quality control and (presumably) setup for longer drives etc. The good: - Not many viruses. It came preloaded with lots of utilities for lighting control and the like. Many other apps had first time use checkboxes that you could uncheck if you didn't want them installed. There were only trial versions of antivirus programs and offers for trial versions of Microsoft products. Also, it was pretty clean. - Build quality is excellent. Mostly textured plastic, but there's a huge metal screen on the underside, allowing you to breathe and see the internal components. Of course, I wouldn't recommend getting it wet, but it has enough airflow to keep temperatures low and fans quiet. The fans are great! The noise level is almost imperceptible. At the same time, most of the airflow comes from below through the vents on the back. So if you lay it on a blanket or block the bottom vents, it'll pull air in through its back, causing the fans to work harder and the temperature to get comfortably warm. Not the end of the world, but if you bought it to play, set it on a hard surface for maximum airflow. The screen is beautiful. It's HD, not 4K. A 15-inch screen is enough to make every game look crisp and clear. The graphics card is just a monster! It comes with 8GB VRAM which makes it a nice experience. I haven't uploaded many games here, but the ones I tested were crisp and clear. I ran into some polygon rendering issues, but updating the video drivers fixed the issue and everything worked without any further issues. The keyboard and backlight are bright but functional. You can switch between multiple profiles and highlight colors (there are thousands of configurations / I've seen about 6 presets) or disable them altogether. What I prefer when gaming is to minimize distractions. I like the backlit keyboard for programming languages in the dark. - The processors are fast and the Windows interface is nimble. Cons: - You get what you paid for. There were other lower specification configurations of the same type of computer that offered a range of features (mouse, headsets, backpack, etc.), but this version wasn't like that and came at a premium price. Worth the price but if you are looking for value shop around as there are many configurations that can offer the best bang for your buck. Especially if you're not too worried about the latest specs. The screen cannot be touched. It wasn't advertised as such and I wasn't expecting it, just thought I put it here for clarity. - Speakers - advertised as giant speakers. They work fine. They are actually on the front bottom of the laptop. They work by "reflecting" sound from the laptop's surface to the user. This means that the material of the surface the laptop is placed on and the distance from the laptop will affect the sound quality of the speaker. However, they have almost no bass. They sound good for noise and most tasks, but if you want immersive sound with bass, get a decent pair of headphones or external speakers. Battery Life - I was able to watch two episodes of the 45 minute show and the battery died. by about 40%. I haven't used it often enough to see how long it lasts before it's completely drained, but at this rate I'd say the battery will drain in around 2 hours of gaming or watching movies. Overall the laptop looks great and performs like a champ. . Very happy with the purchase. I may change my rating after using it for a while but for first impressions I would give it a solid 4-4.5 stars.
