I was looking for several high speed scanners to scan all my client files to save disk space and get quick access to those files. This printer has always been a leader because I've seen how well it performs in the office I work in; knew I could set multiple levels of scan quality to suit my needs. The big negative factor was the cost! So I searched and hoped to see a sale for about 6-8 months but there was none. Then I started looking at the "restored" fi-7160. I was a little afraid of inheriting someone else's headache. In the end, I settled on a refurbished unit for almost $300 less than a new unit and bought the warranty for a small additional fee. compact, efficient way. I highly recommend this scanner.
