Review on Eheim Pro 600 Filter 160G by Ashley Carpenter

Classic Eheim quality. This is the third Eheim square can I have owned for about 20 years. The quality of these German filters is hard to beat. In my opinion, the Germans are the best aquarists in the world. Over the years I have found the Eheim to be superior in many ways including quietness and reliability. But one of the things you learn just by using Eheim filters is that their plastic is not as prone to leaching out the plasticizers that give it flexibility over its lifetime. Plastic parts from other manufacturers become brittle more quickly than Eheim due to exposure to freshwater aquariums. Eheim 4+ 600 works very well for my 90g freshwater aquarium. I assume this will take many years. I confess that this is not the only filtration I have in this aquarium. Anyone who loves New Guinea rainbowfish knows that these fish love moving water. So I have an Odyssea CFS 500 canister filter (eBay), a phosphate reactor driven by a separate pump and a fluid bed filter driven by a small submersible pump. water flows freely. But Eheim with its sprinkler is used to disturb the water like in a slow flowing river or stream. Lots of flow. Good oxygen supply. The fish love it.
