My 16 month old son is 4.5 years old so I ordered him a 5. The sandals fit perfectly with some slack if needed. He's like a runner, but the sandals don't trip or come loose. Before purchasing I looked at and tried many other options here at Walmart but this is by far the best we have tried and my son loves it. . Calluses bothered me, but no matter how long my child wore them, be it to the playground, running in the field, walking on the rocky beach, etc. They don't cause calluses on the heels or sides! 10/10 recommended buying these for your little ones
