All of the detergents I've used over the years are equally effective on clothes, so I choose based on minor issues. for me and my wife that we don't like the scented cleaning products that are all the rage right now, I suspect, because the cleaning products are functionally the same, which is why they sell perfume. When my target stopped selling the unscented liquid Tide, which we've been using for years, I gave it a try because it's said to be unflavored. Turns out she had the usual detergent smell, so she's a winner in that regard. We have a front loading washing machine and only use cold water for washing and rinsing so it may not be a problem with top loading and/or hot water but after a few washes there was a sticky residue on the drum of the washing machine. After using a medium-sized pack, the drum had to be cleaned to clean it. After this experience I will never use these pods again. Thankfully, Target has resumed selling liquid laundry detergent that doesn't smell bad.
