So I had a similar pair of these gloves until my herding puppy grabbed them and had to be put out to pasture. I like these gloves because of the underarm coating. Med is best for big hands but can work for small hands but they will be a bit loose. I can take pans out of a 450 degree oven and they work just fine. I've noticed that with prolonged use, the heat seeps into the gloves and my hand gets a bit warm. Practice with them, and if you need extra hot pads to get items out of the smoker or oven, so be it. They're rated at 932 degrees Fahrenheit and I don't know anything that hot except the surface of the sun or my neighbor's breath, so they haven't been tested past 450 degrees in this house. I won't go without the extra forearm protection. I've burned my wrist and forearm in the oven in the past and I don't want to experience that accident again.
