I can't say enough amazing things about this lens. This is my go-to lens for travel (and just about anything else!). It was worth every penny as I landed on a puffin island for two hours. I wouldn't consider buying a lens without automatic image stabilization - it's definitely worth the extra cost. Image quality is fantastic, especially outdoors. Here are some sample photos of my mom's pup and puffin, as well as a photo of me taking pictures on the Giant's Road to give you an idea of the lens size. I'm just an amateur photographer, but I'm very proud of what I can do with this lens! Update: It's been a few years and I LOVE THIS LENS! This is my lens for literally everything. It's perfect for bird watching, I've used it to shoot Christmas cards for my mum and a friend at work, and I've also shot sports for our school yearbook which came out crystal clear. If you're on the fence about it, just buy it. Worth every penny.
