I have whetstones and a long sharpener and a can opener that sharpens but this is the best! It's really quick and easy. I got it primarily because I have a really good Japanese hatchet and nothing has sharpened it, also I have some old dented cheap knives that couldn't be sharpened. This little tool does everything quickly and efficiently. Haven't tried scissors yet, but I suspect they would work fine too. I'm really excited about this because since it's so quick and easy there will be no more dull knives hanging around irritating me and my arthritic hands.
