If you are not using the 3M PPP system, you should start with it.

If you are a frequent sprayer or a professional user, you need to start using the PPP system. Why? Because it's easy and serves the quality of your products. I am a trained carpenter. I spray many surfaces and colors. I used to buy cheap spray guns, use them a few times and throw them away. But cheap guns aren't the best thing I've learned. A good gun will spray a much nicer finish. The problem is cleaning the cannon and tank after you're done. My atomizer costs a lot of money, so I clean it thoroughly every time I use it. I take it apart and clean all the nooks and crannies. But cleaning the tank is difficult. It seems like things are always left behind. With the PPP system, I mix the finishes in a disposable cup. The mug has a built in strainer so the finish is sifted as it hits my gun. When I'm done spraying, I throw the cup away. It's easy and I love it. The cost is approximately $1-2 per disposable cup (depending on size). That's not bad. I spray super high quality clear coats (ever hear of a conversion polish?) that dry quickly and are almost impossible to clean from a metal tank. I bought my first box of PPP cups not knowing what to expect. Since then I have ordered many more. I would highly recommend using the system. All you need is to find an adapter to make the cups work with whatever gun you use. That's why I did it. Finding a reliable SS adapter cost me about $15.
