I have an old dog that has difficulty climbing the three steps on the back deck. For the past two weeks I have had to carry her up and down stairs (a 40 lb dog). Got this ramp today and put it on the steps. It covers about half the width of the steps so I still have room to walk up and down the deck by myself without touching the ramp. I walked the dog up the ramp twice on the leash and then took him off the leash. When she wanted to be picked up and carried up the steps, I let her know by encouraging her to use the ramp. She went straight up the ladder. Since last night she has gone up and down the ramp three times with no problems. Thanks to the material, texture and stability of the ramp, my dog can now freely move on and off the porch without fear. She enjoys her independence and I enjoy the fact that I no longer have to carry her around with me. I only had it for one night but I love it.
